IV Centenary of the birth of Saint Teresa of Jesus (1515-1915)

One hundred years ago in Spain they celebrated the III Centenary of the birth of Saint Teresa. A Royal Decree was signed on 11th Januaryby King Alfonso XIII and the Prime Minister Eduardo Dato. In the said decree, the day of the birth of Saint Teresa in Avila was decreed a national holiday. Which means that 28th March 1915 was a feast throughout Spain. Moreover the Spanish flag was to be flown from all public buildings, the forces were to wear ceremonial dress and the children had a free day from class.
