I was born Patricia Ann Morales in Santa Barbara, California. We moved back to San Antonio, Texas, where my parents are from. After first grade my parents thought Owosso, Michigan would be an ideal place to raise us children.
We lived in Michigan until my junior year in High School. I went to Holmes High School in San Antonio, Texas, for my junior and senior year. Shortly after graduation I went into the United States Air Force.
After bootcamp I was stationed at Greenham Common Air Force Base in Newbury, England, for three years. During my first year in England the chaplain took us on a “Pilgrimage”. After getting on the bus I asked where we were going for the Pilgrimage. The answer was: The Carmelite Friars in Aylesford, Kent! The chaplain said, we will see the relics of St. Simon Stock. (one of my favorite saints because of his love for Our Blessed Mother) While in England I was able to visit other countries. I served my last year in the Air Force at Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
Although I fell in love with Jesus Christ in the first grade, I had to wait until I was twenty three before entering the monastery. Carmel of Mary monastery in Wahpeton, North Dakota spoke to my heart the first time I read about it. I entered on May 16, 1989, the Feastday of St. Simon Stock. The minute I entered I felt like a fish in an ocean of LOVE and no longer like a fish on dry land.
I entered as a Postulant in 1989
I became a Novice on October 10, 1989 and was given the religious name:
Sister Madonna of the Assumption
I made Temporary Vows on October 10, 1990
I made Solemn Vows on October 7, 1993
I will close by saying: I am truly grateful to God for calling me to be totally His in Carmel.
