On the 2nd of June, the bi-annual meeting of the two General Councils, O.Carm. and O.C.D. was held at our Curia house. The items that were discussed included some outstanding questions such as the restoration of the ruins in the Wadi (on which work is being done in different areas)  and the events that will be jointly celebrated to honour the various centenaries that are approaching. Both councils shared information on what is being done in different places around the commemoration of the 5th Centenary of the death of Teresa of Avila. Similarly, they planned some of the events that will take place around the 8th centenary of the death of Albert of Jerusalem and the 4th centenary of the death of Fr. Gracián. (citoc-online 3/2014).
Information was given in relation to the preparations for the next meeting of ALACAR (The Latin American Association of Carmelites) which will be held in San Salvador from the 26th of September to the 1st of October, 2015, centering on the figure St. Teresa (“a window of hope for Latin America”)

Information was also given about the Awakening project for young European Carmelites and about some of what took place at the last assembly of the Union of Superiors General.
Later in the day, the members went to visit the “titulus” in San Martino ai Monti, where they were welcomed by the Prior Provincial, Fr. Roberto Toni, O.Carm. and by Fr. Giampiero Molinari, O.Carm. the prior of the community. Fr. Giovanni Grosso, O.Carm. gave an historical explanation of this important archaeological site. All prayed together at the headstone of the tomb of Fr. Rossi, the Prior General who encouraged St. Teresa, for the success of the upcoming events. The meeting ended with lunch shared in a joyful and fraternal atmosphere.
