Lina Elsa Turoci (Elsie) was born and raised in Puerto Rico moving to New York after marrying John Turoci in 1981. Elsie studied at the University of Puerto Rico, Bayamon Campus, earning an Associate Degree in Arts. Later Elsie completed training at The Berkley School in White Plains (now Berkley College) earning an Executive Secretary Diploma. When not raising children (4) and caring for her family, Elsie worked professionally as a secretary and bookkeeper in different organizations such as Saudronic Ltd, Pepsi Co. and Marymount College. Currently Elsie is employed as a bookkeeper at The Axelrod Agency, Inc in Chatham, NY and as office manager and secretary to the Pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in Hudson, NY. Elsie joined St. Elijah Lay Carmelites in Troy, NY which has been a developing community since 2005. She became a professed Lay Carmelite in February 2012 and has served her Lay Carmelite community over the years as Secretary (2006-2012), Formation Director (2012-2015) and Director (2015-2018). In 2017, Elsie became a member of the Finance Committee for the Lay Carmelites in Middletown, NY. She also joined the Columbia-Greene Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Committee as its Treasurer. She assisted in the organization, promotion and education that would help to inspire the opening of a perpetual eucharistic chapel in the Columbia Greene County areas. Our Lady of Victory Adoration Chapel in Hudson, NY opened its doors on October 18, 2018. Elsie continues to serve the adoration committee with the daily running of the adoration chapel. After her family, the Adoration Chapel is her greatest joy, continuing the nurturing of her Carmelite spirituality. When not serving her Parish, tending to chapel needs, with family or work, you will find Elsie happily in place with a needle and thread mending or altering people’s clothes.
